PRESS RELEASE

The Alliance Police Department Communications Center is excited to announce new, potentially life-saving technology, that is now in place and available to the public. Apple users who have updated to iOS 18 will have access to the live video feature during a 9-1-1 call. Using the new feature requires just a few steps:

1. Inform the dispatcher that you would like to share real-time video or photos/videos from your photo library.

2. Accept the pop-up invitation from the dispatcher to share video and or photos.

3. Simply follow the on-screen prompts.Screenshot

Note that video is one-way only and the caller will not be able to see the dispatcher. The video feed can be terminated by the caller at any time. All videos are protected as evidence and will only be released via official request similar to other 9-1-1 records. Finally, this feature is only available for wireless calls to the 9-1-1 line. Citizens are reminded that 9-1-1 is reserved for true emergencies and should not be used for non-urgent requests. Please direct any questions to the Alliance Communications Supervisor, Hannah Gerth at (308) 762-4955.
