COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Taryn Foxen scored a season high 33 points and the Chadron State Eagles outscored UCCS in the second half, helping them earn a 78-74 victory on Friday night.
Two more Eagles combined for 24. Jori Peters finished with 14 points and McKenna McLintic added 10. Jordan Morris had a game high 11 rebounds.
The Eagles made 26 of 70 (37.1 percent) field goal shots, including 7 of 16 three-pointers.
UCCS was 33-of-84 for 39.3 percent from the field and six of 25 from behind the arc. The Eagles helped themselves win the game by making 19 of 22 free throws, compared to the hosts two of 11.
The Eagles outrebounded their opponents 52 to 50. CSC had 15 turnovers in the victory, compared to the Mountain Lions 11.
UCCS opened the game with a 17-2 scoring run, but Chadron State responded by scoring 23 of the next 31 points, making the score tied at 25 entering the second quarter.
The teams stayed even in the second period, with the largest lead being three. A Foxen jumper with ten seconds in the quarter lowered the Eagle halftime deficit to 3.
In the second half, CSC outscored their opponent by two in the third quarter and three in the final period. The Eagles were 12 of 14 in the half from the charity stripe and Foxen scored 19 of her 33 points in the final two periods.
UCCS had four double-figure scorers. Abby Feickert had 21, Madi Gailber with 16 and Caley Barnard and Ellie Moore had 11 and 10, respectively.
Besides leading the Eagles in scoring, Feickert had seven rebounds.
The Eagles, now 5-16 overall and 3-9 in the RMAC, will play Colorado School of Mines on Saturday night. The Orediggers nipped MSU-Denver, who are now 11-6, 73-65 in Denver on Friday night.
UCCS tops CSC men 89-79

CHADRON, Neb. --January 24, 2020 -- Taking advantage of the absence of two of Chadron State College's best defenders, the Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions frequently pounded the ball inside to outscore the Eagles 44-22 in the paint during an 89-79 victory on their home court Friday night.
The Eagles were without 6-6 forward Walker Andrew, who sustained a season-ending shoulder injury last weekend, and 6-5 guard Dom Coleman, who severely sprained an ankle in practice this week.
"They did a good job of getting the ball inside against us tonight," CSC Coach Houston Reed noted. "We're already small in places and they (the Mountain Lions) were able to shoot over us more than usual. We started kind of slow, but we made a game of it. There's no quit in our team."
The Mountain Lions, now 11-6 overall and 7-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, led by as many as 12 points twice in the opening half before the Eagles cut the difference to 47-42 at halftime.
With senior forward Brian Rodriguez tallying nine of the points, the Eagles went on a 13-2 run in a four-minute span in the second half to go ahead 63-58 with 12 minutes left. But the Mountain Lions answered with an 11-0 spurt to regain the lead, one they never relinquished.
Blend Avdili scored 21 points and Padiet Wang tallied 19 to lead the hosts, who made 32 of 63 field goal shots and out-rebounded Chadron State 37-30.
Rodriguez paced the Eagles with 19 points, nine of them free throws. Colby Jackson and Micheal Sparks each scored 12 points and Brady Delimont contributed 11. CSC was 24 of 58 (41.4%) from the field.
The Eagles, now 3-15 overall and 2-10 in the conference, will visit Colorado School of Mines in Golden on Saturday night. The Orediggers defeated Metro State Denver 61-52 Friday night.
