Mitchell's Lashley finishes in top three at Waste Management Phoenix Open

Western Nebraska native Nate Lashley finished off a spectacular Waste Management Phoenix Open with a top-three finish and a huge payday Sunday.

Lashley shot a tournament total 14-under par to finish in a third place tie with Justin Thomas and Bubba Watson.  Lashley earned $386,900 from this week's event.

Lashley is a graduate of Mitchell High School.

Webb Simpson birdied the final two holes of regulation to force a playoff with Tony Finau, then won the Waste Management Phoenix Open with a 10-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole. Finau missed an 18-foot birdie try in the playoff on the par-4 18th after driving left into the church pew bunkers. Simpson two-putted for birdie from the fringe on the short par-4 17th and made a 17-footer for birdie from the edge of the green on the 18th. Finau missed a chance to win in regulation when his 8-foot birdie try slid right.

Nuggets squander big lead in Detroit, drop game to Pistons in OT

Andre Drummond had 21 points and 17 rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons rallied from an early 21-point deficit to beat the Denver Nuggets 128-123 in overtime, snapping their five-game losing streak. Reggie Jackson added 20 points and Bruce Brown scored 19 for Detroit. Drummond fouled out with 2:43 left in overtime. Nikola Jokic had 39 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for Denver. His 3-pointer with 29.4 seconds left made it 126-123, but Thon Maker answered with an alley-oop dunk at the other end to push the lead to five.
