Steven W. Pfeiffer, 67, died Monday, February 3, 2020 at Box Butte General Hospital.

He was born December 27, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky to Paul Marion and Alice Jane (Cofer) Pfeiffer.

Steve began his life as a Kentucky-boy at heart and took a chance by journeying over 2500 miles to the rugged Montana mountains. Here he met his wife of 47 years, Lois, and embarked on a three-decade management career at BNSF and an additional six years at the Alaska Railroad where he was able to instill his incredible work ethic.

Steve and Lois raised three children traversing the beautiful state of Montana and throughout the Midwest, ultimately planting roots in Alliance. Steve was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying several Montana and Alaskan adventures.

Following his children and grandchildren’s athletic events and activities was his favorite pastime. He was a committed Bobcat, Bulldog, and Spartan fan traveling hundreds of miles for games and events. You could find Steve and Lois regularly volunteering at the Alliance Eagles Club where they enjoyed the company of many friends and fellow volunteers.

Steve is survived by his wife, Lois Pfeiffer of Alliance; his children, Brian Pfeiffer of Alliance, Jeremy (Stephanie) Pfeiffer of Alliance and Jessica (Adam) Davies of Hemingford; his mother, Jane Pfeiffer of Radcliff, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  He is also survived by his sisters, Paula Kirchbaum of Radcliff, Kentucky and Gina Hart of McDaniels, Kentucky; his special aunt, Doris Dowdell; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his father and his grandson, Ayden Davies.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alliance Eagles Club.  Reverend Russell Saito will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Highland Park Care Center Trishaw Bicycle Fund, 1633 Sweetwater, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.

The family would like to share their sincere gratitude for the many friends they’ve made throughout their journey. Additionally, the exceptional care Steve received at Highland Park and by the Alliance healthcare providers.
