Box Butte General Hospital strives to keep community wellness a top priority. With this in mind, and with recommendation from the Panhandle Public Health District, BBGH and PPHD have confirmed cancellation of the Health Fair to be hosted at Alliance High School Saturday March 28. It is to be determined if a new date will be set for the Health Fair.
This is a precautionary step to help protect our community from the potential spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus, as well as other illnesses. It has been suggested by both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and PPHD to stay away from crowds (also referred to as ‘social distancing’).
Other common practices to reduce risk of exposure include:
Washing hands regularly
Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue and throwing it away
Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces
Using alternate methods of greeting in place of handshakes
Working from home if possible
Avoiding public transportation or ride-sharing
Postponing travel plans
Limit food sharing
Staying home if feeling sick, or a family member is sick
Doing these things will not only help keep ourselves safe, but they also help prevent us from spreading disease to those who are more at-risk to become severely ill.

Keep in mind to call before showing up at the hospital. BBGH has implemented procedures to help protect patients from exposure. Visitation restrictions have been applied for all those under the age of 15, and social visits are currently discouraged for persons of all ages with cold/flu symptoms.
