John Samuel Stites (1971 - 2020

John Samuel Stites, 48, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

He was born on July 27, 1971 in Alliance to Raymond Ray and Ruby J. (Krueger) Stites.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Ruby and Mike O’Connor of Hemingford, his brothers, David (Teresa) Boyles and Ray (Mindy) Stites and his sisters, Ruby Bingham all of Alliance and Angie Bingham of Colorado, aunts and uncles, Mary Olson of Rushville and Leta (Mike) Cox of Alliance.   He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Dominick Boyles, Adrianna Boyles, Lyann Stites, Amanda Stites Lontine, Brandon Stites, Zach Staton and Tamara Bingham as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, including Bill and Deb Reese.  He is also survived by his close friends, Gary Murphy, Bill Shores and Bill Monroe.

John loved to go hunting, fishing and camping with his family. When fishing he would use whatever bait he could find including gummy worms and Tootsie Rolls which he had great success with. John would walk all over town and had many friends and acquaintances.  His favorite greetings were, “You want to fight?” and “I’m gonna pick on you.”  He was always going to the Mission Store and garage sales and would always pick up things; he loved to find “treasures” for family and friends.  John loved bacon.  His favorite meal to cook was BLT’s and did a very good job.  He loved his time working and helping Jim Cornette. John was a hard worker. Jim helped to teach John his directions and how to look around at his surroundings so he could find his way out of an area tell someone where they were in case of an emergency.

John was preceded in death by his father, and his uncles and aunts, William and Janet Krueger, Roger Olson and Fred Krueger, his grandparents, his extended family, Billy and Joey Bingham, his special friend, James “Jim” Cornette and his beloved dog, Spanky.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
