Crop water use varies across the Panhandle, but the Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center estimates crop water use for Nebraska Panhandle crops weekly.
Gary Stone, Nebraska Extension Educator says half of this week is blistering hot , though rain could be coming soon.
"We're looking at a pretty good chance of moisture on Thursday and Friday and maybe through the weekend," Stone said.
Stone says that crop waters are going to be high and that growers should keep up with their watering and give an update on the crops.
"Corn is starting to sit on ears, set on kernels, beans are setting on pods, 2nd blossom is coming on," Stone said. "Sugar beets are also looking good, so keep the water coming."
Stone says that last week, the crop water use averaged about a quarter of an inch a day, growers can expect a similar number this week.
