Alliance Public Library invites readers to “Imagine Your Story” this summer

Posted May 21, 2020 1:06 PM

Alliance – Although things look different this summer, the Alliance Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will continue with the theme “Imagine Your Story” covering fairy tales, fantasy, and folk tales. The program will run June 1 – July 2 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing rules, there will not be weekly in-person programs.

Students will check out and read a set number of books each week to earn prizes from local businesses. Those finishing each week will be put in a drawing for a weekly prize and those successfully completing all five weeks will be put in a random drawing for grand prizes. Prizes and rules can be seen on the library’s Facebook page.

Registration for children and teens will begin Monday May 18, 2020 online at http://libraries.ne.gov/alliance or go to the Alliance Public Library Facebook page and click on the “Summer Reading” event link. Paper registration forms can also be obtained by calling the library but all are encouraged to register online if at all possible. Adults, ages 18 and over, are also invited to participate but no online registration is needed. Again, all rules and prize information can be found on the Library website.

As long as the library remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, arrangements can still be made for books to go out as safely as possible. All items are cleaned and sanitized upon return and are quarantined for a minimum of five days before they are able to be checked out again.

Please contact Elaine Bleisch, Children and Youth Librarian or Cynthia Horn, Outreach and Adult Services Librarian at 762-1387 for more information.
