Jackie (Jack) L. Scott, 88, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2020 at The Residency in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Jack was born April 15, 1932 in Mexico, Missouri to Paul and Katherine (Spurling) Scott. At the age of 17, Jack made a decision to join the U S Navy with his Father’s blessing.  Jack entered into Training Camp at Camp Pendleton in June of 1949 where he attend Dental School and became a Dental Technician. Jack served in Korea as Dental Technician with D Medical Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Division from 1949-1953.  Jack later served with the US Naval Reserve from 1953-1978 in Hannibal, Missouri and Cheyenne, Wyoming where he later became a Hospital Medical Corpman. Jack would take his family to California every summer for 6 weeks while he would serve at Camp Pendleton and Coronado during his time with the Naval Reserves as Chief Petty Officer.  After his return from Korea, Jack worked for the GM&O Railroad as a Brakeman.  Jack later travelled to Alliance, Nebraska where he work the Beet season with CB&Q RR now known as BNSF in 1954.  Also, in 1954 Jack met his Partner in Life, Flora F Struble, at the Alliance Skating Rink. After 2 months, Jack and Flora got married in Hot Springs, South Dakota on November 20th, 1954.  In 1955, Jack and Flo welcomed their first daughter Denise and in 1959 another daughter, Connie.  Jack worked for Kaiser Aluminum Brick Plant in Mexico, Missouri as an Electrician until his decision to move his family to Alliance, Nebraska to work for BNSF Railroad.  Jack later became an Engineer for the BNSF and worked for 28 years before retiring in 1997.  Jack also obtained his Private Pilot License and his love for flying was evident by his constant eye to sky.

Jack is survived by his wife Flora and his two daughters Denise (Jim) Cunningham and Connie (William) Bosch.  He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Katherine, his brothers Gene, Bob, Boyd and his sister Mary Martin. 

Cremation will take place and a service will be held at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In closing, we will always keep him close to our hearts and would like to say as we heard many Service men and women on a recent trip to Camp Pendleton say to Jack, “Thank you for your service, Chief and Semper Fi.”
