Fall River Health Services Awards 2020 high school scholarships

Hot Springs, SD — For the second year in a row, Fall River Health Services offered two, $1,000.00 High School Scholarships to a Fall River County graduate who planned on attending an accredited college, university or trade school for an occupation in the healthcare field. And for the very first year, FRHS has awarded the Build Dakota Scholarship.

Jessica Woolsey was the very first FRHS recipient for the 2020 Build Dakota Scholarship. The FRHS Board of Directors approved up to four recipients to receive these scholarships through the State of S.D., “Build Dakota Scholarship” program in either the LPN or RN programs.

With this award, Jessica’s two semesters of LPN training, (cost of $6,300) at Western Dakota Tech, will be paid by FRHS. This program is to assist the State of SD in training hard to fill positions and keeping those who have been trained, for a minimum of three years in South Dakota after graduation. Upon graduation, Jessica will work a minimum of three years full-time at FRHS due to receiving our sponsorship. Currently Jessica is a C.N.A at FRHS Hospital.

Congratulations to Stephanie Lawrence and Jenna Ostenson on being selected the recipients of this year’s 2020 High School Scholarships from FRHS. Each receives $1,000 toward their health care education. Stephanie Lawrence, C.N.A at SSLC. Stephanie has been accepted to SDSU and will begin her education of becoming a registered nurse and plans to go on to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Stephanie stated that one of her biggest goals is to become a Nurse Practitioner and continuing working in the NICU.

And, Jenna Ostenson, C.N.A at SSCL. Jenna will be attending Presentation College in Aberdeen, where she will major in Nursing. After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, Jenna plans on being a traveling nurse. Jenna's goal is to enroll in the online master’s degree program through Presentation College and become a nurse practitioner.
