Helen June Brennan passed away at Highland Park Care Center on June 8, 2020. June was born to Derrick and Helen Dalton in Alliance, Nebraska on July 12, 1928.
In addition to her parents, June's family included an older sister, Ferrill Jean, and a younger brother, Jack.
June started school while the family was living in Bingham, Nebraska, and continued with family moves to Antioch and Alliance. Prior to her senior year in high school, her family moved from Alliance to Neosho, Missouri. She graduated from Neosho High School in 1946. In the fall of 1946, she enrolled at Chadron State College and attended for a semester.
In January of 1947, June took a job at Langmacher's Creamery in Alliance, Nebraska. That March she attended a dance in Ellsworth where she met Jack Brennan, the "love of her life". They danced the night away and were married at the Methodist Church in Alliance on August 31, 1947. Following their marriage ceremony, they enjoyed a two- week honeymoon on the West Coast.
June and Jack began their life together on a ranch north of Ellsworth and ranched together for 47 years before Jack's sudden death of a heart attack in April of 1994. She remained on the ranch for another 26 years, until December 19, 2019 when she suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital in Alliance. On December 23, 2019, she entered Highland Park Care Center, and after five months, passed away on June 8, 2020. The family is very thankful for the excellent care provided her at the care center.
June gave her heart to the Lord at the young age of 10 and throughout her life served him faithfully. She was a member of Pleasant Point Community Church since 1958 and taught Sunday School there for 50 years.
She is survived by her four children and spouses - Carol (Clayton) Illian of McKinney, Texas; Brenda (Darryl) Reimer of Cody, Wyoming; Dan (Donna) Brennan of Ellsworth; Sally (Dan) Hodge of Glenrock, Wyoming. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Derrick and Helen Dalton, husband Jack, grandson Paul Brennan, sister and brother-in-law Ferrill Jean and Laverne Rice, brother Jack Dalton, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Joanne Brennan.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Point Community Church with Pastor Tom Peppel officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Point Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Pleasant Point Community Church.
