Mobius Comms. Advances Broadband Expansion in Dawes County

HEMINGFORD, Neb. - Mobius Communications continues to expand high-speed internet access across northwest Nebraska as General Manager Tonya Mayer formally signed subcontracts for a broadband fiber project serving rural Dawes County, including Chadron State Park.

Mayer was joined at the signing by Joni Jespersen, Community Enhancement Director for Mobius, and Patrick Haggerty representing Nebraska’s Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program. The project marks a significant step forward in connecting rural communities with reliable, high-speed fiber internet.

The total BEAD-funded project investment is $2,827,598. Funding is provided through the Nebraska Broadband Office and includes $1,979,312 (70 percent) in federal BEAD grant funding along with $848,286 (30 percent) in private, non-governmental investment.

This project will bring critical broadband infrastructure to underserved areas of Dawes County, enhancing connnectivity for residents, businesses and visitors. Expanding fiber access in rural Nebraska supports economic development, educational opportunities, telehealth services and overall quality of life.
