Chadron, Neb. – Plein air art opportunities, live mural painting and a vendor market are coming to downtown Chadron this fall.

Chadron’s Open Frontier Creative District will present the Fall Murals and Makers Market Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After a successful arts and crafts market in June as part of the Highway 20 Frontier Finds event, the creative district wanted to continue the fun with fall programming.

Create your own art during the Chadron Open Art Paint Party, help add another mural to Art Alley or join one of our local groups decorating dumpsters with unique art.

Draw inspiration from the existing Art Alley murals and create your own piece of artwork – wooden signs, canvases or pottery – to take home. Participants can stop by anytime during the day to craft their unique piece in an open-air setting for just $10/person. All proceeds will go toward Chadron Open Art’s initiative to bring local art to downtown Chadron. Leave a mark on the community and lend a hand painting the next addition to Art Alley at the Panhandle Gymnastics Building or volunteer to beautify the dumpsters in Art Alley.

The creative district is seeking vendors with unique items for sale and performance artists willing to do pop-up appearances throughout the day. Vendor applications for the event are open now and are available at http://www.chadron.com/open-frontier-creative-district. Cost to participate is $20. Singers, dancers and theater artists are invited to drop by the market anytime to showcase their talents. Contact Kerri Rempp or Gabby Michna at 432-4401 to let schedule your appearance.

The event will take place in Chadron’s Art Alley and the south end of the Municipal Parking Lot on Chadron Avenue. The footprint will be accessible to pedestrian traffic only during the event.
