Florence “Flossy” Sydow, 93, was born on Thursday, March 20, 1930 to Ernest and Elsie Weinel in Alliance, Nebraska. She graduated from Alliance High School. After graduation she taught school and pursued her pilot’s license. On February 26, 1950 she married Robert “Bob” Sydow. Bob and Florence spent many weekends camping and fishing, a family tradition followed by many of their children and grandchildren.
Florence took her last breath on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
She is survived by her children Larry (Lynda), Connie (Dan) Flores, Ernie (Peggy), Danny (Arlene Kulas), and Jolinda (Dan) Heinrichs; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; sister, Bonnie Duncan; brother, Don Weinel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sister, Dorothy Rose; son, Rodney; great grandson, Lucas; and many brother and sister-in-law’s.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11:00A.M. at the Impact Ministries in Wheatland. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota on April 22, 2024 at 1:30pm.
Donations may be made to the Impact Ministries, Guernsey Fire and Rescue Department, or to the donor’s choice.
