Dennis M. Laughlin, 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Presbyterian – St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, CO.
Dennis was born on May 12, 1948, in Alliance, Nebraska to Jack and Geraldine “Gerry” (Boleski) Laughlin
Following his graduation from Alliance High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam, he was among the elite chosen to represent the Air Force as a member of the U.S. Thunderbirds.
After proudly serving in the military, Dennis and his family made their home in Thornton, Colorado, where he went on to establish his own business, Sweetwater Sign and Design. He later returned to his hometown of Alliance, where he dedicated his time to serving fellow veterans as the Veterans Service Officer of Box Butte County. After retirement Dennis lived with his youngest son, Jake, where he enjoyed family life and remained until his passing.
Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis Jr, Christopher, Alexis, Jake; his grandchildren, Demi, Ariana, Kaleigh, Rex, Christian, Sofia; his brothers, Don, Bill (Sue), Rex, in addition to several nieces and nephews, as well as cousins.
Dennis is preceded in death by infant daughters Rochelle and Andrea, parents Jack and Gerry, and brother Jon.
Dennis had many passions that filled his life with joy. He loved spending time with Ellie, his loyal dog. A talented artist, Dennis expressed his creativity in everything he did, from his professional work to his personal projects. He was an avid golfer and a proud Nebraska Huskers fan! Above all, Dennis treasured his friendships and the time he spent with those he cared about.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel with Father Matt Koperski officiating. Burial will be at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. A lunch will follow at Golden Hour Barbeque for family and friends to gather, share memories, and celebrate Dennis life.
