This week with the crazy weather I haven't made it out. So, I have decided this is a great time to start putting together your summer bucket list. A must on that list, would have to be in Custer, South Dakota.

As many things in the Black Hills, this is opening seasonally. The destination is The Purple Pie Place.

During the summer it has an adorable pink pig out front. This wonderful ice cream, pie shop is located on the main street of Custer. And a very popular place to go. Sometimes lines are out the door on a hot day. If you get lucky and go by, and there is no line...quick, head in the door. There you will find some of the most awesome pies, and the best ice cream in the black hills with so many choices and is really is hard to choose which ones.

According to Levi Hartshorn, "the ice cream cones are as big as your head!" I laughed, and then saw his ice cream cone. Wow, it was huge. You definitely get your moneys worth. Not to mention the pie or ice cream really is fantastic.

You can eat inside, or out on a patio. Nice place to slow down, cool down, and enjoy the special treats that Custer has to offer.

This makes for a great road trip. Head up Highway 385 and stay on that thru Hot Springs, then once you get to Wind Cave park, go straight through...no turns. Then head toward Pringle. It will take you straight through to Custer. Once there, turn right and go a few blocks, and you will see it on the left. That bright purple building is just waiting for you.  Come on Spring!
