Injury Accident at Highway 26 and East 27th Street

On Jan. 12, 2026, at approximately 4:05 p.m., Scottsbluff Police officers responded to the area of Highway 26 and East 27th Street in reference to an injury accident.

Upon arrival, officers observed one vehicle disabled and blocking the eastbound lanes at the intersection of Highway 26 and East 27th Street. A second vehicle was located in a ditch adjacent to the frontage road. Both vehicles sustained significant damage as a result of the collision.

Investigation determined that a 2016 gray Toyota Compass, driven by Wyatt Hooton, 27-years-old, of Scottsbluff, was traveling eastbound on Highway 26. A 2006 gold Kia Sedona, driven by Errol Amey, 43-years-old, of Colorado, was traveling westbound on Highway 26. The Kia Sedona attempted to make a left-hand turn onto East 27th Street and failed to yield the right of way to the Toyota Compass, causing the vehicles to collide.

The driver of the Toyota Compass was transported to Regional West Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Errol Amey was cited and released for failure to yield the right of way.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage. Highway 26 was closed for approximately 30 Minutes.

The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted by the Scottsbluff Fire Department, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, and Regional West Ambulance Services.
