SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - On Feb. 22, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m. MT, Scottsbluff Police were dispatched to a reported injury accident at the intersection of Ave I and West Overland.
The accident was found to involve a blue 2015 Honda Civic, driven by Carolina Torres of Scottsbluff, and a Silver 2021 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Marie Carabajal of Scottsbluff. The investigation found that the Civic was west bound on W Overland and the Equinox was south bound prior to the accident.
Both vehicles stopped at their respective posted stop signs. The Civic entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by the Equinox. Three vehicle occupants involved in the accident were transported to RWMC for treatment of minor injuries. The Civic was a total loss and the Equinox sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages.
Both vehicles were towed due to damages. The intersection of Ave I and West Overland was partially closed for approximately one hour while the investigation was completed. Scottsbluff Fire Department and RWMC Ambulance Services assisted in the response.
