CHADRON – Four Chadron State College students competed and two placed in the top 10 at the FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference in Las Vegas June 6-8.  Mekenna Fisher of Hershey, Nebraska, placed second in Impromptu Speaking, and Alana Wheatly of Gothenburg, Nebraska, placed seventh in Business Communication and 10th in Project Management. They competed against more than 1,400 students representing 200 colleges and universities.

Fisher graduated in May with a degree in Rangeland Management. Wheatly is a senior majoring in business administration.

Justin Johnson of Broken Bow, Nebraska, qualified to compete at nationals his first time while Abigail Russell of Hay Springs, Nebraska, qualified for the second year and will be the incoming president of the CSC chapter. Both are seniors majoring in business administration.

Fisher said the students worked incredibly hard preparing for State Leadership and providing service to the college.

“Their hard work culminated in an incredible experience. I am proud of the growth they displayed and the new opportunities they unlocked by choosing to represent Chadron State at the highest level of FBLA,” Fisher said.
