Wayne suffered an unexpected stroke on May 7th, passing away peacefully on May 11, 2024. His good neighbors called an ambulance for him, and he was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital in Pomona CA. The stroke was rare and severe; he did not regain consciousness.
After serving in the United States Army, Wayne moved to the Pomona area, living near his aunt and uncle, Yvonne (Rosenberger) and Jerry Debolt, and their four daughters. In California, Wayne began using his dad’s name Vincent/Vince, by which he was known among all his California acquaintances.
He worked in maintenance, beginning in the 1970’s, at the Alpha Beta Grocery Stores, later transferring to Albertson’s. But even more important to him was the California weather that allowed him to golf as often as he liked. After retirement, he often volunteered at the Arcadia Golf Course as a Volunteer Marshall, helping to check-in golfers and care for equipment.
Wayne was briefly married in the mid-’70’s; he had no children. His parents Gloria Osborn Rosenberger and Vincent (Rozy) Rosenberger preceded him death, in 2015 and 2016, respectively. He is survived by one sister, Rhondo Rosenberger Tinsley and her husband Dennis Tinsley, and their children and grandchildren. He has several cousins on the Rosenberger and Osborn sides of his family. The Debolt girls have long been his “California Sisters.”
Wayne left specific instructions for his family: “no funeral service, no casket and no flowers!” His cremated remains will be interred at the Hemingford Cemetery in the space arranged for him, next to his parents.
