UPDATE: Winter weather arrives in Panhandle

BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST WEDNESDAY...

*Blizzard conditions.  Additional snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches. with locally higher amounts possible. Winds  gusting as high as 60 mph.

Significant and widespread snow and strong winds continue into Wednesday and possibly as long as Thursday morning  before ending from west to east.  Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings continue through much of Wednesday.

Strong winds creating blowing and drifting snow will continue through Friday before easing. Very cold temperatures will combine with these strong winds to create hazardous windchill temperatures through this time.

* Travel could be very difficult to impossible.  Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.  The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening  commute. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could  cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only.  If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
