Patty was born December 4, 1938, to Clarence “Pat” and Dorothy (Frame) Kennedy. She attended Mitchell Schools and graduated from Mitchell High School.
Patty married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert Kurtz, in 1957 at Holy Apostles’ Episcopal Church. Four children were born to the union: Jerry, Laura, Annette, and Kathy. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be remembered by her smile. While her kids were young, she was active at church as an organist, with the women’s guild, and in organizing the Community Concerts in the valley. As her children grew, she returned to her education and graduated from Chadron State College.
The family home was her haven, and Patty and Gilbert took great pride in caring for it. Christmas was always a special time with Patty and her family making cookies and hosting traditional celebrations. In her spare time, Patty enjoyed sewing, cooking, and relaxing with her cats.
