Youth in grades 4-12 are invited to participate in “Nebraska Letters About Literature” which is a state reading and writing promotion program. LAL is coordinated and sponsored in Nebraska by the Nebraska Center for the Book and the Nebraska Library Commission, with support from Houchen Bindery, Ltd., Humanities Nebraska, Nebraska Cultural Endowment, Lincoln City Libraries, Francie & Finch Bookshop, and Chapters Bookstore in Seward. To enter, readers write a personal letter to an author, living or dead, from any genre—fiction, nonfiction, or poetry, contemporary or classic—explaining how that author’s work changed the student’s way of thinking about the world or themselves. Each letter must be submitted via http://centerforthebook.nebraska.gov/programs/LAL.html with the Letters About Literature online platform for Nebraska. Entries can be submitted through December 31, 2022.
