Eloisa Guzman, 79, of Scottsbluff, left us on June 20th, 2022, on a journey to Heaven. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Joseph Thambi as Celebrant. Services will be live streamed on Bridgman Funeral Home Facebook Page. Interment will follow at High Butte Cemetery in McGrew, NE. Visitation will be from 1-2pm at the church with a Rosary Service being recited at 1:30pm. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Eloisa’s honor be made in care of the Panhandle Humane Society. She was born August 28th, 1942, in Nueva Rosita, in the State of Coahuila, Mexico, and came to the United States in April of 1952 with her mother and grew up and went to school in McGrew.
On June 26th, 1965, she married Stanley (Estanilado) Guzman and to this union three children were born, Mark, Linda and Michelle. In 1983 she became a widow and continued to live in McGrew raising her children. Eloisa worked as a nurse’s aide at Heritage Estates for 20 years and then Bovadir Laboratories in Scottsbluff for a number of years before going on to work at Home Instead. She retired in March of 2020.
Elosia enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren, she loved Nebraska football. She was famous in her family for her pork chili. She also volunteered for many years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She enjoyed meeting people and made numerous friends throughout the community.
Elosia is survived by her children Mark Guzman of North Platte, NE, Linda Guzman-Gonzales (Raymond) and Michelle Reuland of Scottsbluff, NE; special niece and nephew Frank and Nena Grimaldo of Ontario, OR; grandchildren Derek Guzman and grandsons Jaxon and Jasper of Broken Arrow, OK, Wade (Julie) Helberg and grandsons George, Glen and Gene of Wahoo, NE, Michael (Judy) Guzman of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law Helen Medina, Manuela and (John) Tugman, of South Bend, IN, Elizabeth and (Steve) McCarthy of Rapid City, SD; brothers-in-law Raymond and Frank Guzman of South Bend, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Stanley, mother Paula Murrillo and stepfather Jesus Murrillo, mother and father-in law Maria and Nabor Guzman, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Eleanor Guzman, brother-in-law Salbador (Jake) Guzman as well numerous brothers and sisters with Eloisa being the youngest of her siblings.
