The Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) has completed the purchase of the 1st Interstate Inn property, with the transaction closed and the deed filed. This milestone advances the City of Alliance and CRA’s efforts to address blight and substandard conditions and position the site for future economic development.
With the property acquisition complete, the effort moves toward demolition and site preparation. A demolition contract was awarded to Peltz Company following the close of bids on October 2, 2026. Removing the deteriorated structures will help improve the property and clear the way for future redevelopment.
The goal is to remove deteriorated structures, improve the condition of the property, and prepare it for a productive future use. By addressing conditions that can discourage investment, the City and CRA aim to make the site more attractive for redevelopment and support Alliance’s long-term economic growth.
“This is an opportunity to turn a property that would have been a huge challenge for any developer to take on into a site with significant potential,” said CRA President Jess Wimmer. “The cleanup of this property is an example of the CRA’s work to address blighted and substandard conditions and create a foundation for future investment. Taking these steps helps support Alliance’s development and growth.”
This project was made possible through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funding awarded to the City of Alliance. The CRA plans to use its remaining allocated ARPA funds to support this effort within the applicable funding timeframe. These federal resources help advance redevelopment while reducing reliance on local revenues.
Preparing the property is an important step toward attracting interest and opening opportunities for investment. The City and CRA will continue advancing the project and keep residents informed as demolition and redevelopment efforts move forward.
