Kimberly Ann Horacek - Marcy was born on August 27, 1956 in Omaha, NE to Ruth and Al Horacek. She was their only child and they had many adventures as a terrific trio. Growing up, Kim was involved in the pom pom squad, girl scouts, and spending times with her cousins who were like her brothers and sisters. Kim was always a hard worker, working in both junior high and high school, even getting herself back and forth from school to work to home. Kim was an alumna of Omaha Central High School and furthered her education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She valued learning and was committed to personal growth throughout her life serving as a board member for grade schools, preschools, and later Western Nebraska Community College.

Kim married Tom Marcy on March 8, 1980 in Omaha, NE. Wedded bliss took the newlyweds to Firth, NE to their first home, then not long after, back to the ranch south of Hay Springs. Most anniversaries throughout their years were spent in the calving barn.

Although Kim grew up in the city, living in the country and caring for animals was a natural fit for her. Her background and work ethic as a city girl made her a perfect fit for what was to come. Despite her city upbringing, she took on the work of raising cattle and bulls quickly. Raising a family, driving a silage truck, calving cows, keeping the place clean, and filling in where needed on the farm and ranch. Her love of animals was nothing but beautiful. She also had many dogs and cats throughout her life, each one just as special as the last. Even Lucy – aka “The Queen”.

To this wonderful union, Tom and Kim had two sons – Benjamin Jay, born May 7, 1983 and Bradley Charles, born January 2, 1985. She was known as Michael Jordan Mom – the absolute greatest of all time. Brad and Ben were her world for the rest of her time on earth. As they both grew up, Kim and Tom were their biggest supporters. As the boys ventured into adulthood, mom was still one of their closest friends, providing daily guidance, sharing funny memes and videos.

Kim welcomed the boys’ wives, Stephanie and Taryn, as her daughters. When the grandkids, Logan, Brogan, Liam and Bryce came along, she was happiest just being in their presence and they in hers. Cooking, play dough and rides to the dump with grandma were tops.

Kim loved to travel. She and Tom went on many adventures together. Family trips to Mexico and Colorado were favorites. She made sure to take care of everyone, in the most unassuming way.

Kim is survived by her husband Tom; son Ben and his wife Stephanie, their boys Logan and Liam; son Brad and his wife Taryn, their girls Brogan and Bryce; Tom’s best friend Hooch; grandpups Layla, Spud, Flynn and Walter; and many cousins and friends.

Kim was admired by many but opened up to a few. She was genuine with her feelings and kind to anyone. She had a caring and selfless nature, always ensuring that others felt welcomed, valued, and heard. Her wry sense of humor and wit will be so missed. She was soft spoken but a go-getter. She got things done, quietly, perfectly and without much ado. She always had a plan and executed it without a fuss.

The loss of our wife, mother, grandmother and friend has been incredibly deep but we are so thankful for the love, laughter and memories we have had with her. We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends which reflects just how many lives she impacted. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
