Patricia L. “Patty” Guszak (1950 - 2025)

Patricia L. “Patty” Guszak, 74, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Hemingford Community Care Center.

Patty was born December 16, 1950 in Minot, North Dakota to William M. and Rose M. (Rohrbouck) Dyke and was raised on the family farm outside of Plaza, North Dakota.

She graduated from Plaza High School in 1968 and continued to work and live in North Dakota until 1977 when she moved to Alliance to help care for her grandmother.  It was in Alliance where Patty met her husband Francis “Tony” Guszak and was married on May 21, 1982 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Patty worked most of her life helping and caring for others, either through work at nursing home, running an in home daycare, or helping Tony run their lawn care and snow removal business.  In her free time, Patty enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, including crochet, plastic canvas, felt calendars and making beaded banners.  She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, Tony Guszak of Alliance; her sisters, Ellen (Danny) Hoffer of Windsor, CO and Angela (Lonnie) Bergeson of Plaza, ND; nieces and nephews, Kristie Butterfield of Bismarck, ND, Aliesha Shipp of Phoenix, AZ, Justin Dyke of Marksville, LA, Katherine Hoffer of Madera, CA, Matthew Bergeson of Minot, ND, Lucas Bergeson of Grand Forks, ND and Tasha Furhman of Plaza, ND.  Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Charolette and her brother Charles.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.  Father Matt Koperski will officiate.
