This Labor Day weekend, the Scottsbluff Police Department participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over impaired driving awareness campaign, which ran from Aug. 20 through Sept. 6.
Eleven Scottsbluff Police Officers worked a total of 198 hours of traffic enforcement during this campaign.
During the campaign the Scottsbluff Police Department reported the following activity:
7 Speeding citations
4 Arrests for DWI – Alcohol Only
3 Arrests for DUID – Drugs Only
3 Evaluations conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert
22 Felony arrests
13 Fugitives apprehended
8 Open container citations
5 Seat belt citations
3 Child passenger safety restraint citations
82 Total citations issued.
377 Total contacts.
While the high-visibility enforcement mobilization is over for now, the Scottsbluff Police Department wants motorists to remember the dangers of driving while impaired beyond the enforcement effort.
