Ellouise Alice (Todd) Burke (1926 - 2025)

Ellouise Alice (Todd) Burke, 99, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, NE.

She was born February 23, 1926 in Faulkton, SD to Harold O. and Laura Alice (Taylor) Todd.

On February 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to John Leo “Jack” Burke at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance.  She was a dedicated wife and rancher on their Angora area ranch.

Ellouise was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Altar Society, Nebraska Cow Belles, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.  She was an active St. Agnes Academy parent: room mother, field trip and volleyball team chauffeur.  She was an exceptional cook, baker and vegetable gardener.

She is survived by her children, John Harold (Terri) Burke of Alliance, Alice (Henry) Hagedorn of Lincoln, NE, Mike (Barb) Burke of Alliance and Trish (Don) Failor of Alliance.  She is survived by her grandchildren, Erin (Brian), Shawn (Dayna), Steve, Casey, Martie, Chris (Tonja), Tim, Ben (Jess), Chris (Renee), Andreah (Chris), Matt (Tonya), Rennie (Josi) and Katie.  She is survived by her great-grandchildren Owen, Emma, Emily, Sean, Abby, Sarah, Courtnay (Tyler), Charlee, Cagnie, Josie, Jack, Henry, Jakob, Elena, Kinsley, Caroline, Ronin, Abram and Eva. And numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, brother Jack “Bud” (Berniece) Todd, brothers & sister-in-laws, Bernard (Mary Elizabeth) Burke, George (Joanne) Burke, Mary Eileen Burke, Barbara (Mason) Morrill.

A rosary service will be Friday, April 4, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Father Matt Koperski will officiate.  Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery following Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Agnes Academy Foundation (1104 Cheyenne, Alliance, NE 69301 ‘memo Ellouise Burke Memorial’) or Highland Park Care Center (1633 Sweetwater, Alliance, NE 69301 ‘memo Ellouise Burke Memorial’).
