Patricia “Pat” F. Vogel-Kiger, 73, of Minden, Nebraska, formerly of Overton, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
She was born on March 15, 1948, in Alliance, Nebraska to William and Murna (Judevine) Cox. She grew up in Alliance and following High School she worked at the Alliance Police Department and then worked at the Alliance Airport Lounge. While living in Alliance, Pat married Pete Bermel and was blessed with a daughter, Nichole. This marriage soon ended. She was then united in marriage to John Vogel and they were blessed with one son, Gene. They moved to the Lexington/Overton area and started working for Ed Woods. Their marriage would later end in divorce. Pat made her home in Overton and found her best friend and love again. She was united in marriage to Sherman “Butch” Kiger on November 26, 1993 at the Overton Christian Church. Pat worked as an assistant manager at Burns Brothers Truck Stop south of Overton, continuing a long career in Food Service and Management. They moved to Sutherland, Nebraska, in 1996 before retiring and settling in Minden, Nebraska in 2019.
Pat had a love for the outdoors, she enjoyed fishing, camping and sitting outside watching the sunset. She enjoyed dancing with Butch, listening to 40’s and 50’s music. She had a sassy side to her, but she could light up the room with her smile and personality. She was very loving and always looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pat also had a huge heart for the small dogs in her life, Jeff, Dizzy and now Cinnamon.
She was also a past member of the Eagles Club in Lexington and held many positions throughout the years, including President.
Survivors include her husband, Sherman “Butch” Kiger of Minden; children, Nichole Bermel of Mullen, Gene (Cathy McCaslin) Vogel of Papillion, Jolene Stradwick of Valley Grove, West Virginia, Brandy Kiger (Dave Kernan) of Sandhill, West Virginia, Art (Selena) Kiger of Overton and Wade Kiger of Sandhill, West Virginia; ten grandchildren, Hadlee and Liberty Edington, Austin, Colby and Madison Eisenhauer, Anna Langolf, Gabriel Tribett and Addilynn Kernan, Dusti and Cinch Kiger; brothers, Frank (Lupe) Cox of Alliance, Mike (Leta) Cox of Alliance and Bill Broderick of Longmont, Colorado; sisters, Cathy (Art) Thompsen of Alliance and Beverly (Mick) Meszaros of Longmont, Colorado; her dog, cinnamon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Cox, Virginia Cox and Chuck Cox and a grandson Chase Harris Kiger.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Overton Christian Church with Pastor Will Thompson, officiating. The Service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Interment will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton.
