Alan Phillip Danbom (1927 - 2021)

Alan Danbom, of Hemingford,  passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Morrill County Hospital in Bridgeport.  He was 94 years of age.

Alan Phillip Danbom was born July 9, 1927 in Alliance, NE to Milton “Pete” and Grace (White) Danbom.

Alan graduated from Alliance High School in 1944. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1944 - 1946. He was a plank owner of the Seabees and held the rank of Carpenters Mate Third Class (CM3) and was stationed in Guam for the duration of World War II.

On July 14, 1951 Alan married Alice Marion Bowser and to this union four children were born:, son Charles Danbom (wife Joanne); daughters Karan (Danbom) Fisher (husband John); Carol Danbom; and Lea Ann (Danbom) Bauersachs (Late husband Keith). Alan was blessed with five grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to his children, Alan leaves behind his sisters, Dorothy Ray (late husband-Charles) and Margaret Donnelly (late husband Lane); his brothers Paul Danbom (wife Barbara) and Dave Danbom (wife Beverly) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, his in-laws, Ellis & Marion Bowser, his sister, Norma Saling (late husband Bill), his brother,  Bill Danbom (wife Margaret), half-brother Loren Toohey, his son in-law, Keith Bauersachs and granddaughter Lacy Bauersachs.

Alan was a member of the Hemingford Congregational Church. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #9 for 76 years and held several offices. He was also a member of the Lions Club International Foundation serving in many offices and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was a contributing and dedicated citizen of the Hemingford community.

Memorials may be given to the American Legion Post #9 Avenue of Flags and Memorial Wall, the Nebraska Lions Foundation or the Hemingford Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.

Graveside services with military honors will be Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hemingford Cemetery.
