The City of Alliance Proclaimed June 22, 2022 as Jim Reinders Day! We didn't want to share as it was a surprise to his family. The family was presented with the below Proclamation at a Memorial Service for Jim held at Carhenge last night.
WHEREAS, The residents of Alliance, Nebraska would like to honor Jim Reinders, creator of Carhenge, who was born and raised in Alliance, and,
WHEREAS, during his life Jim earned the admiration, respect, love, and affection of fellow citizens; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Alliance recognizes the significance that Jim’s creation, Carhenge, has played in the community; and,
WHEREAS, Carhenge has tremendously enriched tourism to Alliance by bringing in over 100,000 visitors a year, including tourists, authors, TV show producers, podcast creators and journalists; and,
WHEREAS, Carhenge has become a recognized landmark throughout the world; and,
WHEREAS, Jim Reinders continues to inspire many other artists to seek their creative dreams by exemplifying vision and determination despite any resistance to change or the indifference of the doubtful; and,
WHEREAS, The citizens of the City of Alliance and the Nebraska Panhandle wish to honor Jim Reinders for his positive impact on Alliance.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Dafney do hereby recognize June 22, 2022 as:
Jim Reinders Day
And I urge all citizens to join me in honoring and celebrating the life of Jim Reinders.
