A Scottsbluff woman was arrested on Saturday afternoon after a car accident due to driving under the influence.

Scottsbluff Police responded to the scene of the 1000 block of South Beltline East, where a white 2012 Acadia driven by 27-year-old Vanessa Jaramillo of Scottsbluff had collided with an earth embankment, flipped and collided with a chain linked fence, before coming to rest on its side. Jaramillo and juvenile were freed from vehicle.

The investigation uncovered that the vehicle was weaving in and out of traffic and passing vehicles at a high rate of speed.

As a result of the investigation, Jaramillo was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (3rd offense), Driving Under Suspension during a period of revocation, child abuse not resulting in serious bodily injury, and a child occupant protection system violation.

Jaramillo was medically cleared and transported to the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center without incident. The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted by Valley Ambulance and the Scottsbluff Fire Department.
