Delma Jones, 92, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in New Underwood, South Dakota.
Delma was born December 17, 1933, to Albert and Julia (Bokker) Roskam in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, and the family farmed near Henry. She married Edwin Jones on November 16, 1952, in Henry, South Dakota.
Edwin and Delma moved to Rapid City where they owned several acres on Rapid Creek east of the town. The family raised a large garden and several animals, including horses. All the family members were involved in Boots and Saddles for several years, and each of them won several awards for horsemanship. Delma doted on her children and grandchildren. She loved to bowl, to cook and can, and was an avid reader. The coffee pot was always on, and whenever Delma made cookies, half went into the freezer (along with buckets of ice cream) so the kids couldn't inhale them all. Several of the Jones and Roskam clans lived in the area, so extended family celebrations with brothers and sisters, in-laws, and lots of cousins were a regular occurrence.
Delma is survived by her daughter Dianne Parks of Chadron, Nebraska, and sons Earl (Patricia) of Alliance, Nebraska, and Dennis (Carol) of Rapid City, South Dakota. Grandchildren: Brandie, Johanna, Mathew, Amber, Alex, Joshua, and Kristen; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding Delma in death were her husband Edwin, son Donald and his wife Deb, an infant son Douglas, and son-in-law, Ted Parks. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 9:00am at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2000 Lancer Drive, Rapid City, SD. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park, 5301 Tower Road, Rapid City, SD.
Memorials are suggested to Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
