It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Martin Roten on January 12, 2022. He is survived by his children Shirley, Tanna II, Jessie Joe and his wife Skipper as well as his father Joe Roten, brother Troy and sisters Tanna, Mary Jo, and Nolene. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Bell Roten Randolph.
Born April 8, 1945 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska, he spent his childhood in Western Nebraska, returning to Alliance to graduate in 1964 with his sister Tanna along with their father who had returned to school that year to earn his GED. Paul was a gifted, self taught artist, creating paintings of Western Nebraska landscapes and scenes but primarily of trains and automobiles. Some of his works were hung in the railroad Credit Union during his lifetime. Others remain in the Alliance Knight Museum.
He worked many years for the railroad in Alliance and ended his career with The Burlington Northern Railroad in Amarillo, Tx where he lived until his death.
Anyone who knew Paul was touched by his kindness, quiet dry humor and mild temperament. He will be deeply missed. We now take comfort in knowing that he is free from pain and at peace.
Private services are being planned.
