LINCOLN, Neb. – The window is closing to join the Nebraska State Patrol in 2026. Applications are open at NebraskaTroopers.com through Tuesday, March 31.

The next NSP training class is set to begin on July 6, 2026, with graduation scheduled for December 18. Recruits earn $28.85 per hour during training and receive a raise to $33.75 per hour upon graduation. Troopers also receive an excellent retirement plan, health, vision, dental and life insurance, as well as free college tuition for you and your dependents at the University of Nebraska, state colleges, or community colleges.
Troopers also have opportunities for additional pay, including overtime hours at 1.5 times their base salary rate, shift differential pay of an additional $1 per hour if they are regularly assigned to the night shift, and a 2.5 percent pay increase for qualifying as bilingual. Troopers also receive a monthly $100 stipend to cover expenses.

NSP offers the opportunity to serve communities across the entire state. Each recruit will know their assigned duty station prior to starting camp, as NSP works to balance candidates’ duty station requests with the need to provide quality law enforcement coverage statewide.
Applicants must be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age by graduation, when they take the oath of office. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalence.
