Lloyd D. Howell (1942 - 2023)

Graveside services for Lloyd D. Howell will be Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery.

Lloyd Dean Howell was born November 16, 1942 in Alliance, Nebraska to Ernest Louis and Elma Loretta (Hashman) Howell. He died November 29, 2022.

He served in the US Army from 1961-1964. Most of his time was spent in the Panama Canal Zone.

On May 23, 1965 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Myszkowski.

Lloyd retired from BNSF as a carman in 2005.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #7, Eagles, Lions Club, and First Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher and elder. Lloyd loved to watch the Alliance Spartans play baseball. He was a diehard Nebraska Cornhusker fan and liked the Las Vegas (or whatever city they were playing in) Raiders. He was known for his woodworking.  He made over twenty-five sets of Noah’s ark with thirty-two pairs of animals for each ark. He also made beautiful crosses and nativity puzzles.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Joanna Kaye Hoover, brother and sister-in- law, Darrell and Dixie Howell, and brother, Gordon Howell.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat, and daughter, Lora (Steve) Sullivan all of Alliance, his grandchildren, Allison Hoover (Chris George), Columbus; OH; Noah Hoover, Colorado; Kathryn (Josh) Martin, Chadron; Sorcha (Josh) Colerick, Scottsbluff; and McKenna Leach (Joe Covalt), of Alliance, and his great-grandchildren, Cadence and Beckett Martin, Sophia Leach, Hendrix Colerick, and twins coming in the spring of 2023. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins
