WASHINGTON, D.C. –Tuesday, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement on a new rule from the U.S. Department of Labor that makes it more difficult for Americans to work as independent contractors.

“Independent contracting gives millions of Americans the flexibility they want to work for themselves and support their families. This new rule from the Biden administration will make it harder for working Americans to pursue their dream and will put pressure on some to pay expensive and unnecessary union dues. I expect there will be legal challenges to the acting Labor Secretary’s overreach, and the agency would be wise to scrap the rule to avoid expensive litigation.”
