BNSF cleaning up following Friday train derailment

BNSF railway is cleaning up following a train derailment near Cairo in central Nebraska's Hall County.

"BNSF can confirm that a train carrying coal derailed near Cairo, NE at approximately 4:45 a.m. CST, " said BNSF General Director Public Affairs Lena Kent. There are no injuries and the cause is under investigation."

57 coal cars and multiple engines derailed from the BNSF tracks, which sit along Highway 2. 

The derailment is currently being cleaned up.

The public is asked to stay clear of the area.

"BNSF personnel are on site and working as quickly and safely as possible to clear the incident," Kent added.
