On March 3 at approximately 11:18 a.m. Alliance Police Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Sweetwater Avenue and East 3rd Street.

An Alliance man was driving a 1969 white Chevrolet pickup eastbound on East 3rd Street.  A 2009 White GMC Yukon driven by Gering woman approached the intersection from the north.

"The driver of the GMC Yukon failed to comply with the stop sign and entered the intersection before it was safe to do so," Alliance Police Sgt. Cody Buskirk said. "The front of the Chevrolet pickup collided with the passenger side of the GMC Yukon."

Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to the accident and both drivers were evaluated for injury.

No one was transported to the hospital.

"Seat belts appeared to be in use in both vehicles," Buskirk said. "Airbags in the GMC Yukon were deployed."

The Gering woman was issued a traffic citation.

No names of those involved in this accident were released.
