Troopers Arrest Man Following Pursuit in Lincoln County

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) arrested one person after a short pursuit in Lincoln County late Monday.

At approximately 11:36 p.m. on Monday, August 18, a trooper attempted a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima for speeding and disobeying a stop sign at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Nissan refused to yield and continued driving onto the Interstate 80 on-ramp near mile marker 179. As the vehicle fled eastbound on Interstate 80, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, NSP Airwing and K9 units joined the pursuit. 

At approximately 11:42 p.m., the vehicle came to stop near mile marker 188. Inside the vehicle, troopers discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The driver, Rick Reeves, 56-years-old, of North Platte was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, willful reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations. The driver was lodged at Lincoln County Detention Center.

The pursuit lasted a total of six minutes and reached speeds of approximately 110 miles per hour.
