Community Discussion of Nebraska 2025 One Read Across Nebraska Book

ALLIANCE, Neb. – Join us at the Alliance Public Library for a special event sponsored by Alliance Public Library featuring the WWII novel by Marcus Brotherton and New York Times best-selling author, Tosca Lee. The APL is hosting a special presentation and community discussion of the Nebraska 2025 One Read Across Nebraska book, The Long March Home on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at the Library.

The novel, based on actual events, tells the saga of the brutal Bataan Death March told through the experiences of three young men, best friends since boyhood, who become prisoners of war subjected to one of the most horrific events in modern war-time history. Praised as dazzling, magnificent and compelling, this riving historical novel has received the lavish praise of critics for its captivating story of struggle and sacrifice and the power of the human spirit to overcome what seemed insurmountable. The Long March Home, a World War II novel of the Pacific, is the work of renown Nebraskan author, Tosca Lee who co-wrote the book with Marcus Brotherton.

She is the recipient of two Christy Awards, three International Book Awards, and was the Goodreads Choice Awards semifinalist in 2019 for Best Mystery/Thriller. Her work has been praised for its lyrical prose, extensive research and vivid imagery, and has been translated into 17 languages. It has also been made into film and television dramas.

Books and discussion questions are available upon request at the front desk. Books may be borrowed for a $3 postage and handling fee with a current library card.
