High speed chase near Holyoke Friday ends with suspect apprehended in Chase County

IMPERIAL — On March 3, at approximately 10p.m., the Chase County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the Holyoke Police Department reference a High Speed Pursuit that had entered into Nebraska heading east on Highway 6. The Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit west of Imperial and took over as lead agency. The pursuit entered into Imperial and the suspect vehicle turned east on 12th street and ran the stop sign at 12th Street and Highway 61, crossed the highway and continued on east on 738 RD.

The Chase County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Imperial Police Department along with the Holyoke PD. The pursuit continued on east for approximately six miles until the suspect vehicle left the road and drove through a field and back on a minimum maintenance road where the vehicle became stuck. The suspect ran from the vehicle into the canyons and the deputies lost sight of him. A check of the vehicle revealed that the driver was wanted out of Missouri for multiple charges. A search was conducted for hours with the use of a drone and the Nebraska State Patrol, Imperial PD and Chase County Emergency Management.

In the early morning hours, the coordinated search was called off but the sheriff’s office continued patrolling the area. Shortly before 5:00 am the Sheriff’s Office received a report that a person matching the description of the suspect in the pursuit entered a home off old Highway 6 and threatened an elderly couple with a knife. The Sheriff and a Deputy responded and the suspect had fled before they arrived. A search was made of the area and the suspect was located 1 1/2 miles southwest from the residence in a field. The suspect was apprehended by the Sheriff and Deputy and taken to the Chase County Jail where he was charged with Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon, and Flight to Avoid. He will also be facing charges in Colorado along with the original warrant from Missouri.
