Shirley was born November 30, 1931, to Lee and Elsie (Saunders) Vohland. She was raised on the family farm located on 9 mile creek, east of Scottsbluff. It was there on the home place, that she grew up with her brothers, Dan and Vance and sister Isa. The kids grew up helping with all the chores on the farm and that is where Shirley’s love of animals had its roots. She attended high school in Minatare, where she took part in many school activities. She participated in cheerleading and choir, along with other activities and was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year.

It was in high school, where she meant and fell in love with Harry Aulick. They were married May 27, 1949, at the Federated Church in Minatare. They had 3 children Ginger, Vinc and Shane. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She was an excellent homemaker, cook AND parts runner. Shirley often helped Harry by picking up parts and running errands while he was busy rebuilding starters and generators. The small business, that started in the garage behind the house, as a one man - one woman operation, grew and was the beginning of the Aulick Family of Companies.

Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday and the family always looked forward to spending Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa. Family favorites were her stuffing, chocolate ice box dessert, sour cream raisin pie and her incredible frosted sugar cookies. A hot cup of coffee and some kind of goodies were always ready when anyone would stop to visit. She especially loved having coffee with her brother Dan.

For years, Shirley could often be seen walking around town with her friend, Vonnie or daughter, Ginger. She really enjoyed walking and had walked hundreds of miles- rain or shine. She’s probably up there walking circles around everyone.

Survivors include her daughter -Ginger, son -Vinc (Robin), son -Shane (Annette) all of Scottsbluff, sister -Isa (Mel) Riley of Laramie, Wyoming, and Sister-in-law Dixie Vohland of Gering, 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
