HYANNIS, Neb. - United Way of Western Nebraska (UWWN) has launched a Western Nebraska Fire Relief Fund to provide immediate and longterm assistance to individuals and families affected by the recent fires across the region.

The Fire Relief Fund will support emergency needs such as temporary housing, food, clothing, essential supplies and recovery assistance for needs not covered by FEMA or insurance. One hundred percent of donations remain within the affected communities, ensuring that help reaches local families as quickly and effectively as possible.

“It is heartbreaking to see the devastation caused by the fires. Our hearts are with the families who have lost homes, belongings and stability because of these devastating fires,” said Karen Benzel, Executive Director of United Way of Western Nebraska. “When crisis strikes here at home, this community always steps up. Every dollar donated stays local—local impact, local decisions, local support.”

United Way of Western Nebraska works closely with community partners, emergency responders and local agencies to ensure resources are directed where they are needed most. Funds raised will be distributed based on verified needs and coordinated with local partners to avoid duplication of services and maximize effectiveness.

How to Help

Community members who wish to support fire affected families can donate online at: www.uwwn.org/relief or drop off monetary donations at the United Way office (723 Flack Ave Alliance, NE or 1517 Broadway, Suite 106, Scottsbluff, NE).

Monetary donations are most helpful at this time, allowing rapid response to evolving needs. Businesses, civic groups and individuals are encouraged to contribute and share the link to increase community impact.
