LINCOLN, NE – On Thursday, July 6, Governor Jim Pillen will visit five cities to highlight infrastructure, broadband, and economic development as vital components to connecting Nebraska. He will be accompanied on the tour by Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) Director Vicki Kramer, State Broadband Director Patrick Haggerty, and Department of Economic Development (DED) Director K.C. Belitz. Jeremy Borrell, director of the Aeronautics Division at NDOT will also join the team for the presentation in Grand Island.
Highlights of the tour include:
Improvements to the state’s transportation system, as detailed in NDOT’s recently released Surface Transportation Program Book for Fiscal Years 2024-2029
Expansion of high-speed internet to rural communities through a $405 million dollar award from the Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program
Strengthening quality of life in Nebraska’s communities through economic development initiatives
