Carnegie is pleased to announce the award recipients for the exhibit Box Butte Art Society Judged Spring Show. This years’ exhibit includes 16 adult artists and one youth artist. There are forty-three pieces total. Works include photography, sculpture, mixed media, wood working, oil painting, watercolor painting, and acrylic paintings. WNCC Art Instructor Yelena Khanevskya from Gering, NE served as the judge for the exhibit this year and had the very difficult job of selecting awarded pieces from a wide array of beautiful artwork. The awards selected are as follows. Best of Show was awarded to Brandon Mundt for “The Absolute.” Certificates of Excellence went to Steph Mantooth’s “Little Fixer Upper”, Bailey Johnson’s “Corralling the Blues”, and Becci Thomas’ “Books Open Your World.” Honorable Mentions went to Bailey Johnson’s “Somewhere Between Two Summers”, Linda Lacy’s “The Splendor of Dance”, John Overstreet’s “Before the Fire”, and Steph Mantooth’s “Elvis Has Left the Building.” Youth Certificate of Excellence went to Ayvrie Waldron’s “Rust and Reverence.” The exhibit will be on display in the Garwood upper gallery along with the Alliance Arts Council’s featured artist, Lori Davis in the Skala Gallery. The artist receptions will take place March 22nd from 5-7pm. The event is open to the public and food and beverage will be provided.
