Orsinia (Cindy) Lapaseotes, 87, of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Morrill County Community Hospital. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the Bridgman Funeral Home in Bridgeport, NE with a Trisagion Service to follow at 7:00 pm. Her funeral will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Bayard, NE. Interment will follow at the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport, NE. Services will be livestreamed on the Assumption Greek Orthodox facebook page and Bridgman Funeral Home facebook page.
Orsinia was born June 25, 1934, in Casper, WY to James and Panayeota Karantzas. She graduated from Natrona County High School in1953 and from Casper College in 1955. She was united in marriage to George P. Lapaseotes on December 4, 1960. To this union two sons were born, Peter G. Lapaseotes and James C. Lapaseotes.
Orsinia’s church and faith was very important to her. She and her husband George were co-founders and lifelong members of Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village, CO and she was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Bayard, NE. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society of Denver, CO and Bayard, NE, Beta Sigma Phi, Red Hats and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was a city girl at heart but following the passing of her husband George in 2001, she relocated to Bridgeport to be near her children and grandchildren. Orsinia’s greatest joy was her family including 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Orsinia is survived by her sons Peter G. (Jacqueline) Lapaseotes and James C. (Debbie) Lapaseotes of Bridgeport, NE; grandchildren Mattie (Rob) Bray of Cheyenne, WY, George P. Lapaseotes II (Britnee) of Sidney, NE and Demetria J. Lapaseotes of Bridgeport, NE; great grandchildren Emslie Rain, Eliania Merit and Luxen Harvey Bray of Cheyenne, WY. She is also survived by sisters -in-law Martha Chapman, Stacia (Danny) Whetstone, Vangie Pappas all of Denver, CO and Chris Lapaseotes of Bridgeport, NE and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Panayeota Karantzas; in-laws Pete C. and Helen Lapaseotes, husband George P. Lapaseotes; sister Mary Karantzas; brothers-in-law John Pappas, Connie Lapaseotes and Wendall Chapman as well as numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Bayard, NE or Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport, NE.
