ALLIANCE, Neb. - The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month, raising awareness of mental health and mental health conditions. The Alliance Public library contains extensive information in its collection of books pertaining to not only mental health but health and nutrition, offering a large selection of cookbooks, many with healthy nutrition-based recipes. Overdrive is also an excellent educational resource and is an online service available with an Alliance Public Library card.

In addition to the informative resources available, the library also offers a variety of programs for the enjoyment of the community. Socializing has proven beneficial for good mental well-being and emotional wellness. Feelings of happiness and connection can improve both mental and physical health. Studies have shown that those who participate in shared enjoyable activities experience reduced stress, better emotional and physical health and an extended life span.
