Valentine, Neb. - The Cherry County Sheriff's (CCSO) Office announced on Monday that an arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Saturday involving a cyclist near Valentine.
The cyclist was participating in the Tour De Nebraska event. The incident occurred on Saturday morning on Highway 2 outside of Valentine. Officials in Grant County were made aware of the situation and were alerted the suspect was traveling in the area east on Highway 2 near Hyannis.
According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was stopped by officials at mile marker 153 near Greathouse Road and was arrested. The suspect was later released to Cherry County Depurites on an arrest warrant. No more information has been provided.
